FAQ'S
HOW DO I KNOW IF WE'RE A GOOD FIT?
I offer free, 15 minute consult calls to all potential clients. You're welcome to reach out to me through this website, any of my social media platforms, or by directly emailing me at "georgiamccusker@theragingtherapist.com".
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FOR A CONSULT CALL?
Consult calls are quick and easy! They're fifteen minutes and I offer them through zoom or over the phone. I will ask you to outline your concerns (aka the things that you want to address in therapy). When you're finished, I might ask you some clarifying questions. Then I will talk a bit about me and my approach. At the end, you have three options. You can book an appointment, think about it and email me later, or never see my face again!
That's it!
WHERE ARE YOU REGISTERED AND WILL MY BENEFITS COVER THE SESSIONS?
I am registered in both Saskatchewan with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers and in British Columbia with the British Columbia College of Social Workers. So I see clients both in Saskatchewan and British Columbia. I am a Registered Social Worker (R.S.W.) in both provinces so if your benefits cover social workers, your benefits will cover our sessions. I always recommend people check with their benefits provider just to confirm.
If you are planning to do private pay (pay out of pocket), you don't have to worry about this!
HOW DO I BOOK A SESSION?
I book all my sessions personally. Please feel free to contact me to book a consult call to see if we're a good fit.
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
I offer two types of individual sessions. I offer a 50 minute session as well as a "mini" 25 minute sessions (for maintenance clients only).
ARE THERE 'IN PERSON' SESSIONS?
No, at this time I am only doing telehealth sessions. I use a platform that functions very similarly to Zoom or Skype. We speak face to face via a live video service.
DO YOU DO DIRECT BILLING?
I don't do any direct billing. I require all my clients to pay for their sessions either by credit card on file or via an e-transfer. I do provide all my clients with receipts to submit to their insurance provider.
DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL TECHNOLOGY/DEVICES TO DO VIRTUAL COUNSELLING?
No, you only need an internet connection. I have clients who use their phones, iPads, laptops, etc. Anything that has an internet connection will work.
CAN I DO VIRTUAL COUNSELLING FROM ANYWHERE?
Yes! Anywhere you have internet, you can do virtual counselling! I have clients who sit in their car, lay in bed, stay in their work office, sit in Starbucks on their lunch break, etc. Wherever is most comfortable for you, works for me.
HOW OFTEN DO PEOPLE GO TO THERAPY?
This is very individual. Most people usually have weekly or bi-weekly sessions at the beginning. Some clients prefer to continue on with bi-weekly and others go down to once a month or on an "as needed basis". In the end, you get to decide how often you want to attend sessions.
HOW MUCH DOES THERAPY COST?
There are a variety of different services at different costs.
15 Minute Consult calls: Free
Individual 50 minute sessions: $150
Individual 25 minute "mini" sessions: $75
Text-Based Therapy Plans: Please see page on text-based plans listed under "Services".
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Appointments need to be cancelled 24 hours in advance.
If you are late, we will still end on time. If you miss a session without canceling, or cancel with less than twenty-four hours notice, you must be responsible for the cost of that session. I cannot bill these sessions to your insurance.
That being said, life can get in the way and I understand that. Please text/email/call as soon as possible if you are unable to cancel within the 24 hour time limit.
